Privacy policy

Patra is a mobile client for Kavita that lets you access and read content from Kavita servers you choose to connect to.
Patra is designed to work without a Patra-operated backend. The developer of Patra does not collect, store, sell, or share your personal data.
Data Patra processes
To connect to a Kavita server, Patra processes information that you provide or that is required for the connection, including:
- the address of your Kavita server;
- your Kavita authentication information;
- authentication tokens returned by your Kavita server;
- library metadata, reading progress, covers, pages, books, comics, manga, and other content provided by your Kavita server.
This information is used only to provide the app's functionality and communicate with the Kavita server you selected.
Patra does not send this information to the developer of Patra.
Credentials
Your Kavita password is used to authenticate with your server and is not stored by Patra after authentication.
Authentication tokens and saved server information are stored locally on your device. Sensitive authentication data is stored using the secure storage facilities provided by the operating system.
Offline content and local data
Patra may store data locally on your device so that the app can work correctly and provide offline reading features. This may include:
- downloaded books, chapters, pages, and images;
- cached covers and other media;
- reading progress waiting to be synchronized;
- application preferences;
- server connection information and authentication tokens.
Local data remains on your device until it is removed through the app, cleared by the operating system, or the app is uninstalled, subject to the behavior of the operating system.
Communication with your Kavita server
Patra communicates directly with the Kavita server configured by you.
The operator of that server may receive and process information such as your account details, IP address, requests, reading progress, and other data according to that server's own configuration and privacy practices.
Patra and its developer do not control how independently operated Kavita servers collect, store, or process data.
Using HTTPS is recommended. If you connect to a server using unencrypted HTTP, information exchanged with that server may not be protected in transit.
Analytics, advertising, and tracking
Patra does not currently include:
- advertising;
- advertising identifiers;
- third-party analytics;
- third-party tracking;
- crash-reporting services that send diagnostic information to the developer.
Patra does not sell personal information.
Third-party services
Patra relies on the Kavita server you choose to configure. Kavita is a separate project and may have its own privacy practices.
The app also uses operating-system services and standard networking functionality provided by Android and Apple platforms. Their handling of device and service data is governed by the privacy policies of the relevant platform provider.
Data sharing
The developer of Patra does not receive your Kavita credentials, library contents, reading activity, or other personal data through Patra and therefore does not share that data with third parties.
Data exchanged directly between your device and your chosen Kavita server is outside the developer's control.
Your choices
You control which Kavita servers are configured in Patra and which content is downloaded for offline use.
You can stop Patra from accessing a Kavita server by removing that server from the app. You can remove locally stored app data using the controls provided by the app or operating system, or by uninstalling Patra.
For data stored by a Kavita server, contact the operator of that server.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if Patra's features or data practices change. The current version will be published with an updated revision date.
